Where the Funds Go

Bayside Women’s Shelter Board of Directors are a fully committed team of unpaid volunteers who come from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds. Some who have themselves been domestic violence victims. The one thing we all have in common is an incredible passion for helping women and children escaping domestic and family violence and homelessness.

The following are the ways that your help gets put to great use – we are making a real difference in the community, please join us.

A pre-paid phone card assists to help a woman make the calls she needs to start getting her life back on track

Enables a woman to access subsidised counselling and support services

Provides groceries to support a woman in the shelter for 3 days

Provides a hot meal and a safe, comfortable place to stay overnight

Provides immediate crisis assistance to a woman in her first 24 hours in the shelter

Pays for further education in TAFE and other courses facilitating a woman’s economic independence

Supports approximately 6 women through their entire journey and you become a ‘Community Partner’

Covers part of our professional and highly qualified caseworker team run Bayside Women’s Shelter for a year

Pays half the entire costs of running a shelter for 12 months including electricity and water to keep our washing machines going, rent for our Shelter, provision of security to ensure the safety of those at our Shelter
