Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and the beginning of 16 days of activism against gender based violence. This year’s theme is 'Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect' and for our 16 days of activism, we amplify our voices in eliminating violence against women.
Accompanying the crisis has been a spike in domestic violence and we have seen an increase of 30% demand for our shelter services.
Take action as an individual and orange your social media and let your community know you are there for support, share support resources and information about available DV services. Orange the world by also speaking up against cyber violence.
Make a personal commitment to not condone or accept violence, and speak up.
Have conversations with family and friends about the negative impact of violence against women. Educate yourself about the causes and consequences of violence against women.
And donate if you can to our shelter and continue helping 6 women with or without children escape domestic violence and homelessness.

Exciting news today❤️Drum roll please...
We have extremely exciting news. We have been asked to co-create a Walk The Talk Corporate program with KPMG Australia for Women's Community Shelters! This is an incredible opportunity for us to walk alongside a multinational corporate and reimagine how they might best not only support employees living with domestic and / or family violence, but extend their talents into the broader community to better support frontline services too.
It's an enormous opportunity to also centre the voices of survivors, embed action (not just words) and to work for change.
Our Director for Education and Special Projects, Dannielle Miller, will be designing and delivering this work.

This Christmas leave no woman and child in need. And we are always in need of Coles and Woolworths gift cards. Give the gift that will make a difference to our shelter and the women and children we help. If you are thinking about a meaningful present for your family or friends in lieu of gifts a fantastic idea would be donating one of these gift cards to our shelter. Please buy a gift card and drop off to Clovelly Community Bank Branch, Matt Thistlethwaite MP, or Marjorie O’Neill - Member for Coogee. ... See MoreSee Less
